Comments on the draft Guidelines on Business and Human Rights
Dear Prof. Ruggie,
In response to your kind invitation, Business for Human Rights, HRE is pleased to send you some comments and suggestions on the draft "Guiding Principles for Implementing the 'Protect, Respect, Remedy' Framework" United Nations ".
First of all, we would like to highlight the high level of quality of the project proposed in November. It provides very clear guidance for understanding the respective roles and potential gaps of states and businesses in implementing the UN “Protect, Respect and Remedy” framework.
In the contribution (see attached document) submitted by EDH to International Business
During the consultation organized by MEDEF in October 2010, we mentioned two interesting aspects of the UN
Frame composed of:
- the impact of conflicts and disputes, and the related costs for the actors concerned - the quality of due diligence required by companies.
We appreciate that these aspects, and many others, are usefully detailed in the Guiding Principles which provide pragmatic and comprehensive keys to understanding.
